Software Engineering at Stack AI

August was a big month for the Stack AI community. We hit 60,000 users and welcomed new team members across frontend, backend, and support.

We also made significant performance and reliability improvements, and we’re excited to share new features you’ve requested to us.

Let’s dive in!

Loop mode

We released the Loop Mode for the External Flow Node (branded as "Stack AI Project" in the builder under the Utils section).

This feature lets you modularize your projects into individual components and execute them repeatedly in a loop.

To use Loop Mode, simply format your input list like this: [“input 1”, “input 2”, “input 3”, … ]

Here’s a practical example:

  • A customer needed to identify competitors based on a company name.

  • An LLM generated the list of competitors, which were then individually analyzed in a due diligence process performed in another project.

  • Since the number of competitors varied, Loop Mode was essential to efficiently handle this task.

Simply click “Download as Excel” in the output. This option is currently available in:

Builder: through the Output Node

Form interface

We’re working to expand this feature to other interfaces soon.

Connection Manager

REMINDER: Last month, we introduced the Connection Manager, allowing you to create a connection once and reuse it throughout your workspace. It also lets you refresh, remove, and test connections all in one place.

To access it, click your profile settings and select the Connection Manager tab. From there, you can choose an existing connection or create a new one right from this view.

NEW RELEASE: This month, we’re excited to release the second part: You can now use these connections directly in the builder with various knowledge bases and data loaders.

Simply click the connection button, select your connection, or create a new one right from this view.

OpenAI models

We’ve added two new models to our platform:

  • gpt-4o-2024-08-06: The latest snapshot supports Structured Outputs, ensuring responses consistently follow your supplied JSON Schema. This means no more worries about missing keys or invalid enum values.

  • chatgpt-4o-latest: A dynamic model that continuously updates to the latest version of GPT-4o in ChatGPT, with frequent updates.
