A national wealth management firm with tens of billions in AUM was founded with a mission to help people plan for the future, whether saving for education or preparing for retirement. Their offerings span financial planning, tax services, and long-term investment management.
The firm’s growth model relies on advisors (who also serve as salespeople) building strong client relationships, managing portfolios, and delivering reliable returns for families. With thousands of clients and complex service offerings, the leadership team needed faster ways to access client context, streamline data workflows, and reduce the manual load on advisors.

The Problem
An IT leader at the firm reached out to StackAI looking to build an AI-powered tool to equip advisors with real-time context for client interactions and handle the firm’s most repetitive, resource-heavy processes. Key challenges included:
Quickly retrieving account lists and other important materials for specific advisors
Determining client eligibility for certain products by cross-referencing multiple internal documents
Managing and filing thousands of incoming documents, each with specific classification and storage rules
The Solution
The StackAI pilot began with a Salesforce-integrated AI assistant that answered questions from investment managers on company resources. Questions like “How many tax service projects have been completed this month?” and “What’s the total AUM today?” are now converted into SQL and answered in seconds. This tool has improved personalization across the client experience and allowed investment managers to provide precisely tailored strategies.

The IT team then expanded the AI program to include several other powerful tools. Their Investments Help Desk AI Agent combines data from multiple document repositories, a web search-enabled LLM, and an internal knowledge base to answer complex product and policy questions, verified by a secondary LLM. This AI agent answers general questions, but was especially helpful when differentiating hundreds of product offerings. With many different bundles of financial assets for different purposes, teams needed a way to quickly determine a client’s eligibility for a certain product over another. As such, this AI agent is used by nearly everyone in the firm, leading to a significant reduction in time spent manually searching for answers.

Next, their Document Ingestion and Classification AI Agent utilizes OCR (Optical Character Recognition) technology to scan and extract text from documents and images. This agent processes every incoming file, determines its proper storage location, and classifies it. It’s used hundreds of times per week, and has saved hundreds of hours of time across the firm.

Lastly, the firm has various AI agents to assist with market research: precise information on stocks, tickers, equities, new ETFs, and other market instruments is now available instantly through their AI-powered research tools, enabling investment teams to quickly gather, compare, and act on the latest market data.
