How to Build the Ultimate Support Chatbot

Building the Ultimate Support Chatbot: A Step-by-Step Walkthrough

To start building your support agent, navigate to your Stack AI dashboard and select “New Project”. 

Choose the “Workflow Builder” option and select the template titled “Knowledge Base Agent”.   

The Workflow Builder will look like this. You’ll see a node for a user question (input), Documents (knowledge base), Anthropic — Claude 3.5 Sonnet (LLM), and an Answer from the chatbot (Output).  

Upload your support documentation to the Knowledge Base.

Now add a Website Knowledge Base to your workflow. Add your support website to the URL section.

Then let’s configure the LLM. Start by inserting these instructions into the Edit Instructions box. 

We’ve included the text below so you can copy and paste it into the box. 

You are a customer support agent for Stack AI.

1. You can answer user questions on the product from the knowledge base.

2. If the user needs help with payments, ask him for its email and use the Stripe tools.

3. If the user needs to talk with a representative, send an email to both the user and support@stack-ai.com handing off the request.

Be kind, brief, and supportive.

Now fill in the Prompt box. Use the following arrangement:

Next, navigate to the “Tools” tab on the bottom of the LLM. Click the tab and add these three tools:

Stripe: Search Customer

Stripe: List Charges

Gmail: Send Email

When you’re finished, the following tool section should look like this:

Now navigate to the settings section of your LLM. 

Change the following settings:

Window Size -> 20.

 Turn citations off.

Turn on PII compliance.

This will finish off your settings for your LLM. Now click on the Export tab.

Select Website Chatbot.

Give your Website Chatbot a name and a description.

Now your Website Chatbot is ready to use.

Ask the chatbot a question about Stack AI. The chatbot will answer based on the documents in your knowledge base and web material.

Now try out the Stripe functionality. In this example, we’ll inquire about our payment history. 

Provide your email address.

The AI agent will provide you with your payment history.
